Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest flick ‘Article 15’ has been receiving rave reviews from all quarters. The film that is centred around caste discrimination in society, sees the actor play the role of a cop for the first time on the big screen. Going by the star’s reaction to taking on this challenging role, it was no easy task.
Recalling some of his most difficult days on the sets, Ayushmann revealed in a recent interview that he had to walk on real garbage and also shoot for a scene in a leech-infested waterbody for about three days.
He had previously detailed this unpleasant incident in a post stating that it was the “true test of love for his craft.”
His note read, “Today was a true test of my love for my craft. We are in the middle of shooting Article 15, being directed by the super talented
Anubhav Sinha. Yesterday, we had a challenging day - a shot required us to enter into a swamp and do a gripping scene. We realised that the swamp was filled with leeches only when we were in the middle of the shot! I would like to salute my brave team of investigative officers (it’s an honour to act with these talented actors) for finishing the scene despite a vicious leech attack!”
Ayushmann also said in a statement that the intent to bring about "social change by starting a conversation" is what compelled him to back a movie like 'Article 15'.
He said, "As an artist, you sometimes get a film that demands you to back it wholeheartedly because it is trying to make a strong statement because it is trying to affect social change by starting a conversation. A film like 'Article 15' compelled me to put my voice behind it because it is cinema that needs to be made and seen. It is cinema for the entire country, for the youth to notice."
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film will release on Friday.
