Anurag Basu’s romantic musical starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela finally bags a title and its not ‘Aashiqui 3’

Following a significant buzz, Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela’s much-awaited romantic musical with filmmaker Anurag Basu has finally bagged its official title, ‘Tu Meri Zindagi Hai’. The film, described as a soulful love story laced with Basu’s signature emotional depth and musical storytelling, is slated for a theatrical release in May 2026.

From ‘Aashiqui 3’ to a standalone love story

Initially rumoured to be ‘Aashiqui 3’, the project took a new turn after producers Mukesh Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar parted ways professionally. It was then re-envisioned as an original romantic drama. According to a source quoted by Mid-Day, the new title was chosen “to capture nostalgia without tying it directly to the Aashiqui franchise.” ‘Tu Meri Zindagi Hai’ reportedly resonated with the creative team for its timeless, emotional appeal.

Anurag Basu to helm ‘Tu Meri Zindagi Hai’

The film is currently being shot in Mumbai, with schedules expected to continue until the end of 2025. Post-production and additional song shoots are planned for early 2026. According to Network18, insiders revealed that the movie will feature “a strong emotional core, poetic visuals, and music that echoes the golden era of romantic cinema.”

Release date for ‘Tu Meri Zindagi Hai’ According to Network18, new reports indicated that the movie would come out in May 2026. Now, according to the latest, the film could have its premiere on December 25, 2025, and might be counter with the release of the Alia Bhatt starrer action drama ‘Alpha’, the latter which is scheduled to be released around that period. Both of the two movies are supposedly aiming to hit the screens at one of the best times of the year, Christmas, but no statements have been made so far by the producers of both films.

Kartik Aaryan has a schedule full of work, as he has a lot of projects coming up. His next appearance will be in the movie titled ‘Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri’ with Ananya Panday as his co-star, and it will be released on December 31, 2025. Besides, he is also working on ‘Naagzilla - Naag Lok Ka Pehla Kaand’, a fantasy thriller that will take him into another baffling genre altogether.
