Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat remains one of the most recognised celebrity homes in Mumbai. Over the years, the sea-facing bungalow has become closely linked with the superstar and his family. Fans often gather outside the residence, making it one of the most visited celebrity landmarks in the city. However, long before the property became known as Mannat, the bungalow had already built a different relationship with the film industry.
Bungalow had a film connection earlier
During the 1980s and 1990s, several Hindi film productions used the property for shooting schedules. The location became familiar to many actors and filmmakers because of its appearance in numerous projects. The bungalow witnessed several memorable scenes and movie moments during those years. It remained an active filming location before eventually becoming Shah Rukh Khan's residence.
Anupam Kher revisits old memories
Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently spoke with ANI about his experiences connected to the property. He reflected on the time when he worked there during film shoots. The actor recalled being very familiar with the location and shared that he spent considerable time there while filming projects. He recalled, “We did the shooting of
Indra Kumar's 'Dil' in a bungalow, which is now owned by Shah Rukh Khan. I know every inch of that place before it became Mannat.
Even after that, I have been to Shah Rukh's house. I remember shooting a lot of scenes in the bungalow's drawing room. We had also shot Beta over there.”
'Dil' and 'Beta' share special link
'Dil' and 'Beta' later emerged as major films and enjoyed success after release. Both movies also featured
Madhuri Dixit in important roles. The films continue to remain popular among audiences even today. The fact that parts of these projects were shot at the bungalow adds another chapter to the property's cinematic history. Apart from these films, the location also reportedly appeared in other projects during that period.
