vadodara: mowgli, alladin and pocahontas will soon have an unlikely companion in the world of animation films - sardar patel - the 'iron man' of india. a slew of proposed films on sardar vallabhbhai patel, both feature and animation, has added to the new wave of sardar-mania that is probably set to overshadow even mahatma gandhi. the plan for the films comes on the heels of a massive effort to establish a 31-feet bronze statue of india's first home minister in the us.
and, it's the strong nrg community, mostly from the charotar region that encompasses anand, nadiad and kheda, that is spearheading the efforts to ''educate the youth about the man and popularise his contribution as the architect of modern india.'' mumbai-based film-maker sanskar desai is working on an ambitious project, funded entirely by the nrgs, to create about 10 to 12 one-minute-long animation films, highlighting various aspects of the sardar's personality, philosophy and work.
