‘Andaz Apna Apna’ (1994)

'Andaz Apna Apna' is a cult classic that did poorly at the box office and soon after became a comedy legend. Featuring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan at their most hilarious points, the characters of Amar-Prem, Crime Master Gogo and Teja are part of pop culture. with cult lines such as "Teja main hoon, mark idhar hai", this film transformed the genre of Bollywood comedy.

2/9

‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ (2004)

Mujhse Shaadi Karogi led by Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra was so entertaining that it had audiences in stitches. This love triangle film was romantic, combined with a comedy of errors, Akshay’s pranks and Khan's bumbling antics were hilarious. Let’s not forget about the crazy music such as ‘Jeene Ke Hai Chaar Din’ and ‘Laal Dupatta’, which solidified this film as a successful family movie.

3/9

‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’ (1999)

David Dhawan's classic starred Govinda and Sanjay Dutt in a mixture of love, mistaken identities, and entertaining comedy, alongside Karisma Kapoor's charm. The songs always had playfulness to them as well, including the ever-famous, 'What is Mobile Number?' becoming a phenomenal youth anthem as so many more due to its catchy tone. 'Partner' had wittiness infused with situational comedy resulting to become one of the most beloved comedy films for kids of the 90s.

4/9

‘Partner’ (2007)

Govinda and Salman Khan's impeccable comic timing is what made 'Partner' a hit film. The shy lover was Govinda and Salman was the love guru. The film has one too many laugh-out-loud moments. The quirky dance number, 'Do You Wanna Partner' is nostalgic for many. Govinda's comedic genius and Salman's swag was a union that made audiences burst with laughter.

5/9

‘Hungama’ (2003)

Priyadarshan's 'Hungama' is complete situational comedy at its best. Paresh Rawal, Aftab Shivdasani, Akshaye Khanna, and Rimi Sen were caught in a pocket of misunderstandings with confusion in every scene, making one burst out laughing. From Paresh Rawal's suspicious husband role to the ridiculous height of the climax, this film is a shining example that Bollywood can turn confusion into comedic trailblazers and golden nuggets.

6/9

‘Chupke Chupke’ (1975)

‘Chupke Chupke’ is a classic Hrishikesh Mukherjee film that represents humour and comic affair at its very best. Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri and Sharmila Tagore produced a brilliant film on the merits of good dialogue, not slapstick. The use of language and mistaken identity in the film make it one of the best comedies we have seen in Indian cinema.

7/9

‘Hera Pheri’ (2000)

Next on the list, ‘Hera Pheri’ cannot be left off any list of comedy films. Paresh Rawal as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte is one for the ages. He, along with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, show us pure comic gold. Mistaken kidnappings and enlisting help to quickly make money in dubious enterprises was the plot; and we remember and quote very well from the film to this day. Who hasn't exclaimed "Utha le re baba", and it continues to be turned into memes. No doubt, the film continues to be adored.

8/9

‘Garam Masala’ (2005)

Akshay Kumar and John Abraham brought the screen to life in ‘Garam Masala’ where he juggled romantic girlfriends and brought a barrel of laughs. Paresh Rawal gave the film his signature treatment along with Akshay bringing the film to a new level of a modern-day comedy box-office success. Songs like ‘Kiss Me Baby’ kept viewers engaged while Akshay's range of impressions with his comic expressions pushed the laughter of the audiences beyond measure.

9/9

‘Dulhe Raja’ (1998)

Govinda and Raveena Tandon lit up the screen in this crazy laugh riot. Govinda's knack for comic timing was well-supported by Kader Khan's hilarious expressions throughout the film. Govinda's chartbuster song ‘Akhiyon Se Goli Maare' brought a nice peppy essence to the film. The wonderfully witty banter between Govinda and Kader Khan had the audiences doubled over in laughter. ‘Dulhe Raja’ would go down as one of the most loved Govinda comedies of the late 90s'.
