Amit Sharma to direct ‘Malamaal Weekly 2’ as Priyadarshan exits and Paresh Rawal confirms return - Reports

The popular comedy ‘Malamaal Weekly’ (2006), which carved a niche with its quirky humour and memorable characters, is finally gearing up for a sequel nearly two decades later. The film, fondly remembered for its chaotic storyline revolving around a lottery ticket and a village full of eccentric personalities, continues to enjoy a loyal fan base. While the director may change, the film is expected to retain its original flavour with familiar faces returning. Paresh Rawal is likely to lead the cast once again, alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Rajpal Yadav, who played key roles in the first instalment and contributed significantly to its comic appeal.

The original film was produced by Percept Picture Company and Sahara Motion Pictures, but neither is currently associated with the upcoming project. Producer Shailendra Singh shared that Paresh Rawal had reached out on behalf of an independent producer to inquire about the sequel’s rights.
