Akshay Kumar honours stuntmen; Credits them for keeping him safe on action-movie sets: 'Inki wajah se mera career hai'

Akshay Kumar, currently promoting his latest release, 'Jolly LLB 3', took over the finale episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show. On the show, the actor gave due credit to the stuntmen who have played a significant role in his development as an action movie star.

“I am a stuntman first”

In a newly released promo, Akshay is seen interacting warmly with a group of stunt professionals, acknowledging their pivotal role in his decades-long journey. “I consider myself a stuntman first and then an actor,” he shared. “I do stunts because of them, and they wouldn’t let me get even a small scratch. To me, they are the real heroes; inki wajah se mera career hai.”


This heartfelt bond with stuntmen has been a recurring theme for Akshay. Recently, he extended his support by ensuring nearly 650–700 stunt professionals, following the tragic death of stuntman SM Raju during a Tamil film shoot.

A gesture of care and protection

Veteran stunt director Vikram Singh Dahiya praised Akshay’s initiative, noting that the insurance covers both health and accident risks, offering cashless medical treatment up to Rs 5.5 lakh. “Thanks to Akshay sir, around 650 to 700 stuntmen and action crew members in Bollywood are now covered under insurance,” he said.

What’s next for Akshay Kumar?

On the work front, Akshay released his film 'Jolly LLB 3' alongside Arshad Warsi. He has also reunited with longtime collaborator Saif Ali Khan for Priyadarshan’s upcoming film ‘Haiwaan.’ The duo, who delivered hits like ‘Main Khiladi Tu’ Anari and ‘Yeh Dillagi,’ are sharing the screen again after nearly two decades.

Beyond that, Akshay has two more collaborations with Priyadarshan in the pipeline, ‘Bhoot Bangla,’ a horror comedy, and the much-awaited ‘Hera Pheri 3.’
