Aishwarya Rai doesn't believe in 'comeback' after last outing in 'Ponniyin Selvan: Part II'; says, 'once an artist, always an artist'

Aishwarya Rai has been conscious of the projects she wants to be a part of. Recently, while speaking with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor shared that terminologies like comeback are not something she believes in.




"At the end of the day, once an artist, always an artist. That is the way I view our craft and how I view our industry and audiences always validate that perspective," she said.

Her words come at a time when social media discussions and fan speculation regarding her next project have been increasing, especially after she stepped away from the screen following Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan: Part II' in 2023.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been selective with her work ever since 2018's 'Fanney Khan'. After that, she returned only for 'Ponniyin Selvan I' (2022) and 'Ponniyin Selvan II' (2023). The actress has often prioritised her life as a mother and her family commitments, something she has never shied away from.

In Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' franchise, she portrayed dual roles as Nandini, a vengeful beauty seeking revenge on the Chola empire for her lover Veerapandiyan's death, and Mandakini Devi a mute enigmatic figure.
