Ranbir Kapoor buys land in Ayodhya worth Rs 3.31 crore, ahead of 'Ramayana' release where he plays Lord Ram: 'It has chosen me'
Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of 'Ramayana' and last month, the first look of the actor as Lord Ram was unveiled by the makers. Ahead of the release of 'Ramayana: Part 1' in cinemas this Diwali, Ranbir has now plot a land in Ayodhya. Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan has also purchased several lands in Ayodhya, near Ram Janmbhoomi.
The deal, worth nearly Rs 3.31 crore, covers a 2,134-square-foot plot, a 75-acre riverside project located along the Sarayu river. Talking about this development, Ranbir said in a statement, "I believe Ayodhya has chosen me, and I have just answered this calling."
"Ayodhya is deep rooted in our history and is a critical part of our cultural fabric. This land became my gateway to ensuring this becomes a part of my legacy for my family." he added.
Ayodhya has witnessed a massive surge in tourism and pilgrim footfall in recent years. Government estimates suggest that the number of visitors jumped from nearly Rs 5.75 crore before the construction of the Ram temple to around 23 crore between January and June 2025 alone.
Recently, at the first look launch event of 'Ramayana' in LA, Ranbir opened up on playing Lord Ram. He had said at the event, "Ram has been the conscious keeper of billions of people around the globe for centuries and long after. He enlightens us about the human spirit in terms of adversities. He stands for compassion, for courage, for righteousness and forgiveness. He is called Maryada Purushottam, which stands for an ideal man."Ranbir Kapoor also expressed his gratitude to the audience for the enthusiastic response to the teaser. Addressing the crowd, Kapoor remarked, “Thanks for coming here. This is really a very special moment for me to come with our labour of love and to show it to you all. You guys are actually the absolute first people to ever see this, and we couldn’t be happier."
