Aamir Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Esha Gupta: Celebs who are currently on a social media detox

With the growing numbers of Covid-19 cases across India and lockdown-like situation everywhere, B-Town, too, has come to a standstill once again, what with film shoots on halt and theaters shut in an attempt to control the outbreak. While this has led to celebs being confined at their houses once again, much like last year’s lockdown, a few have now gone off social media. Here’s a list of celebs that you won’t be seeing sharing updates on social media at least for some time now.

Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan gave up on social media a day after his birthday. Announcing his exit from the digital world, the actor shared that his production company AKF will henceforth update everyone about his films. His last post read, “Hey guys, thank you so much for all the love and warmth on my birthday. My heart is full. In other news, this is going to be my last post on social media. Considering that I am SO active anyway I have decided to drop the pretence. We will continue to communicate as we did before. In addition, AKP has created its official channel! So future updates on me and my films can be found there. Lots of love, always, a.”

Esha Gupta

Esha Gupta is also spending some time away from the virtual world while her team will continue to post for her. She announced on her latest Instagram story, “We are in this together. Seeing the situation in our country my family and I have contributed beds and essentials. Everyday seeing what our country is going through is just painful. I wish everyone who reads this a healthy life and pray for your families safety. Going off social media, but please continue sharing verified information so my team can share with all of you. Please take care and be grateful and kind towards one another”.

4/6

Fatima Sana Shaikh

After Aamir Khan, his ‘Dangal’ co-star Fatima Sana Shaikh hinted towards a temporary break from social media as she wrote, “Taking a break from social media Stay safe guys” amid the surge in COVID-19 cases.

5/6

Warina Hussain

The ‘Loveyatri’ actress has also quit social media. "Peace out. I remember reading somewhere that you don’t have to announce your departure because this isn’t an airport. But I’ll do so for my friends and fans, whose love has always been my strength. This is my last social media post but my team will continue to manage my account so you can stay up to date on my work. Lots of love – Alien,” she wrote, adding, “In Aamir sir’s language, dropping the pretence.” Later, she told ETimes exclusively, “Everyone is just writing randomly and indiscriminately from anywhere and everywhere on social media. Frankly, I haven't received nasty comments, except just once or twice. But the place in general has become too toxic. I had to say goodbye to it for my sanity."

6/6

Amit Sadh

In his long note, Amit Sadh revealed that he doesn’t feel right about putting up his trivial pictures and videos online. Singing off for good, he explained, “I am going offline. The recent events have made me reflect on whether I should be posting my pictures and reels. Especially when my city Mumbai and the entire state is under strict Covid restrictions, the whole country is going through a difficult time. I believe my post and reels of gym sessions, the silly things I do, will not heal or entertain anyone. This is not a criticism to anyone. I personally feel the best way to be sensitive about the situation is to pray and hope for the things to get better.”
