After dabbling in music, stand-up comedy and theatre in India, Aadar Malik recently made his acting debut with the French film, 'Sun'. The movie, which has him playing the titular role, released on July 24, and it is now doing the rounds of international festivals.
A member of the Malik (Anu, Daboo and Abu) family, Aadar is excited about his debut. He says, “I think every actor is enamoured with French cinema.

In a way, I was representing India on the film’s set. It was a wonderful responsibility I was glad to take on.”
Talking about the film, one of its directors, Jonathan Desoindre, says, “Our comedy follows the adventures of Sun, a delivery man of Indian descent who leads a frantic life in contemporary Paris.”
The other director, Ella Kowalska, adds, “We wanted to show a Paris that is rarely seen on screen. By exploring its communities, and capturing its tastes, smells and sounds, we present an underrated, underground, but incredibly alive Paris.”
Producer Damien Lagogué explains, “The film is built on the constant energy of the main character, Sun. His vitality makes the impossible, possible. Also, an Indian-origin actor is quite rare in French cinema. Aadar is a great actor, not because he can play anything, but because he has this enormous generosity, which makes him the best ally directors can dream of. Dedicated and thorough in his art, he is also attentive to his partners, always searching with them, a way to make the scene better, funnier, more tense, more unexpected. Aadar brought great sensitivity to Sun. The French press calls Sun a ‘colourful feel-good comedy’.”
