Standby is just days into its first schedule and the first promo is already out! The film has politics in sports and football as the backdrop. Manish Chaudhary plays the football coach who mouths a line, “Cricket is a gentleman’s game but football is a man’s game and you need to be a man to understand this.” Now the producers think that the line won’t go down well with our cricket-crazy nation and is considering deleting the line from the film.
However, the film’s four times award winning director Sanjay Surkar insists, “I think the line is very crucial to the plot of the film and as a director I would not want any change in any dialogue of the film.” Says producer Sagar Chaube, “There is such a line in the film. And keeping in mind the sentiments of the people in the country, we believe one would not like this kind of statement.” The film had earlier got into censor trouble when the Board had asked them for an affidavit for one of their songs called Lad Bapu. The Board believed that they were asking for trouble by using a violent term and the father of non-violence in the same sentence.
