Trust is the most important factor in any relationship. When I watch such shows, it’s about deriving a voyeuristic pleasure. There is a forbidden pleasure that makes me want to watch these programmes. I’ll want to watch the Dimpy-Rahul episode. It will be sensational. But personally, I can never subject my husband, Raja Dasgupta, to such indignity. Raja will surely not accept if I am a willing partner for making a mockery of our private life. The liaison between Dimpy and Rahul was a media-generated exercise. I don’t know how much of what they show is for real. A lot of starlets today feel that any publicity is good publicity. No doubt, shows like these are inherently scandalous. They bring instant attention. But Rahul never had good-boy image. I doubt if this kind of a test will salvage his reputation and help his political career.I don’t watch such shows. I can never imagine doing a loyalty test on my wife, Churni. How can a couple live under the same roof if one gets a channel to do a test on the other? Sometimes, there might be certain diversions in people’s lives. That should be respected and honoured.
If at all there are issues, they should be treated privately. One can’t sell the marriage by entertaining proposals to feature in such shows. The trust factor in a relationship can’t be a part of a game. I don’t think people will take such shows seriously. Reality shows have ensured that Rahul is a known face. But this kind of a show will not do any good to his image. You can do such sting operations on anonymous people. But when it comes to celebs, people will understand that it’s all made-up. Ican never imagine doing a loyalty test on my husband, Jisshu Sengupta. The idea is simply ridiculous. Why would I want to put someone I love through any sort of a test? Leave alone a lie detector, I can’t even think of subjecting our relationship to any kind of a test. The very fact that we are together proves that we have immense faith and trust in each other. Period. It will be beyond the realm of being ridiculous if Rahul Mahajan’s political career gets a boost because he has been a part of such a show. There is absolutely no connection between his political career and a loyalty test done on him for a television show. As for me, I don’t watch such shows!I’m married but I can never imagine myselfagreeing to be part of such a show. Every individual has a public and a privatelife. He or she leads both these lives simultaneously. It doesn’t matterwhether a person is a celebrity or not to have these two lives. It’s adecision that an individual has to take about how much to reveal to the outsideworld. Agreeing to be part of such a test is no reason to consider that theparticipant is very brave. If a person is very chilled out, he might not beperturbed even after his spouse puts him through such a test. As far as Rahul isconcerned, I don’t think this show will have any impact on his career. It’s a case of hogging 15 minutes of fame. I’m not interested inwatching such shows.
