‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ box-office collection Day 4: The Akshay Kumar-Bhumi Pednekar film makes total of Rs 62 crore

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ seems to be unstoppable at the box office. The film that released on August 11 has been moving ahead at a good speed and showed a remarkable collection of around Rs 12 crore on its first Monday. After opening at more than Rs 11 crore, the film showed a massive growth during the weekend with its Sunday collections touching the peak of Rs 21.25 crore.The total collection of the film now stands at around Rs 62 crore.

The film has successfully broken the dry lull on the box office and seems to be emerging as the year’s biggest blockbuster after the unbeatable ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’. It also looks like Akshay’s maintaining his successful run on the career front after his last hit ‘Jolly LLB 2’ by making his presence felt strongly in the industry.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ is a joint production of hit duo Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Neeraj Pandey of ‘Baby’ fame. The film is a love story set in the Nandgaon region of Mathura and addresses the issue of open defecation. The film touches upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet campaign Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. It revolves around a new bride (Bhumi Pednekar) who leaves home in the absence of a proper toilet, compelling her husband (Akshay Kumar) to stand up for the cause to bring her back.

Loaded with songs like 'Gori tu latth maar' besides light romantic numbers 'Bakheda' and 'Hans mat pagli', the film also stars Anupam Kher, Divyendu Sharma, Sana Khan, Sudhir Pandey and Rajesh Sharma in prominent roles.
