The Vaccine War box office collection day 3: Vivek Agnihotri’s film records a minor jump, earns Rs 1.50 crore
After delivering a blockbuster like The Kashmir Files, expectations were high from filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s next. However, his latest release, The Vaccine War has found few takers.
The movie opened on Thursday, coinciding with the partial holiday of Anant Chaturdashi, and earned Rs 85 lakhs, on Friday the movie added Rs 90 lakh to its collection, reports Sacnilk. The Vaccine War recorded a jump in numbers on Sunday, adding another Rs 1.50 crore to its total, which now stands at Rs 3.25 crore. The movie faced competition from two other releases – comedy entertainer Fukrey 3 and Kangana Ranaut starrer Chandramukhi 2.
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Vaccine War is based on the book ‘Going Viral’ by Prof Balram Bhargava, Director General – Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). It chronicles the efforts of India’s scientific community who created India's indigenous COVID-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’ in just seven months amid the pandemic. The film stars Nana Patekar, Anupam Kher, Raima Sen and Pallavi Joshi in the lead roles.
Speaking about the movie, Vivek Agnihotri had shared, "Amidst the Covid pandemic, there was a fight whether we will survive or not. There was a big gang of people who were trying to sell their own country. They were saying to bring foreign vaccine and they believed that India can't do this. But in such a terrible situation some of our scientists risked their lives and believed that they can do it. They not only saved the lives of 130 crore people but also saved the lives of needy people by sending their vaccines to 101 countries. The person behind this was mostly our women scientists, our mothers."
Ahead of the film’s theatrical release in India, Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi had hosted special screenings of The Vaccine War in the US under the India for Humanity Tour.
