More about 'Raja Shivaji
The film has been written and directed by Riteish Deshmukh. It also features Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Sachin Khedekar, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan, Bhagyashree, Genelia Deshmukh, and Amole Gupte.
Salman Khan's cameo as Maharaj's guard, Jiva Mahala, during the battle of Pratapgad, received a lot of love from his fans.
A section of people also commented about the film's poor VFX in some scenes. Responding to the same, Abhishek Bachchan told News18, "Riteish and Genelia (Deshmukh) have made a Marathi film within a very tight budget. A film with Rs 1000 crore budget for VFX, as opposed to a film with much smaller budget, will look different."
He urged not to compare Indian movies with Hollywood VFX. He added, "They’ve budgets. Just to give you scale, they probably end up spending over Rs 5000 crore just on VFX. We can’t compete with that. We probably work here at one per cent of that at best for our VFX."
The film was released in theatres on May 1, 2026.
