Three days of art and excellence mark grand cultural convocation
Dance, music, theatre, recitation, painting, sculpture, and yoga were part of the annual convocation of the All India Music and Cultural Council, held from March 11 to 13. Founded in 1976, the institution follows the guru-shishya parampara alongside contemporary teaching methods. The year 1976–2026 marks its Golden Jubilee.
Based in North Kolkata, the council has more than 9,000 branches worldwide, with registered offices in Europe, the USA, and Bangladesh. It also conducts international convocation events in Europe. Each year, over 5,000 students receive certificates and medals across different cultural disciplines.
In 2025, India Post issued a commemorative stamp marking 50 years of the institution. The event was attended by Vice President Prof Dr Amita Dutta and Rector Dr Guru Thankamani Kutty, and inaugurated by Presidency University Vice Chancellor Prof Nirmalya Narayan Chakraborty.
Awards including the Kalamani and the Kajal Sengupta Memorial Award were presented, with singer Srikanta Acharya among the recipients. Around 1,200 students received certificates, and selected participants performed during the three-day event.
