Mohammad Ali Park is all set to celebrate its 57th year of Durga Puja with a spectacular theme —
“Shakti Sagar” (The Ocean of Power) — paying homage to the divine feminine and the eternal protector.
This year’s pandal is envisioned as a reimagined temple where womanhood is celebrated as divinity, power, and empowerment. At its core,
Shakti Sagar portrays the Goddess as protector, nurturer, and sovereign — embodying the eternal strength of the feminine spirit through art and symbolism.
Adding grandeur to the design, a towering idol of Lord Krishna, holding the eternal wheel of time, presides over the pandal, symbolising the cosmic cycle and the balance of justice, compassion, and action.
Inside, visitors are transported to an immersive underwater world — with coral palaces, floating fish, and dolphins — reminiscent of ancient temples lost beneath the sea. Amidst the marine splendour, a small boat sails silently, collecting plastic and waste, serving as a poignant reminder that devotion must be accompanied by responsibility towards the environment.
“This year, as we celebrate the 57th year of our Durga Puja, ‘Shakti Sagar’ is not just a theme, it is a heartfelt tribute to the strength of the feminine spirit and the sacred bond between divinity and nature,” said General Secretary from the association.
