Organised by BMCC Heritage Collective — Astitva— an annual intercollegiate event with the tagline, “Celebrating Indian Heritage” is all set to mesmerise everyone. Approaching its 10th year, Astitva is prepping up for its biggest ever celebration! The theme of the event this year is “Cinematic Heritage” to celebrate the Golden Era of Bollywood. It will be held in August 20 and 21 in BMCC campus which is all set to take a retro avatar and bring out the glamour in classic to the crowd of thousands.

Various prominent personalities like Dr GB Deglurkar, P K Ghanekar, Mahesh Kale, Subodh Bhave, Anand Bhate have graced the event as chief guest. This year, we are privileged to have the presence of esteemed Indian classical singer, Rahul Deshpande, as our Chief Guest.
Astitva covers all city colleges and brings you 12 competitions namely; Nritalankar (Dance), Swaralankar (Singing), Vadyanlankar (Instrumental), Panache (Fashion Show), Shabdalankar (Essay), BollyQuiz (Quiz), Drishtikon (10 seconds film), Clickathon (Photography), Ranganubhav (Painting), Rekhatan (Sketching), Shrungar (Hair styling and make-up) and Hastarang (Mehndi). The judges for the events will be Pandit Ramdas Palsule, Sateesh Patnikar, Arundhati Patwardhan, Jeetendra Bhuruk, to name a few.
The stage is set to recreate the magic of golden era with dance theme as Indian Classical Dances in Bollywood; and mic is eager to sing in the hands of today’s Kishore, Lata and other golden era singers. Fashion show is greatly anticipated among the city youth with theme, Indian Weddings, and essay has become a topic of brainstorming in canteens with one of the themes, “Cinema as a soft power of India”. The Gabbars of quiz event are awaiting rather more intelligent Kaliyas with fun questions and no guns. The new competition, 10 seconds film is teasing the brains of young filmmakers to convey a social message in mere 10 seconds! Yet another new competition, Hair Styling and Make up has got beauty enthusiasts in the city prep up their make-up kits.

Along with fun and festivity, Astitva also believes in sincerity and service. It follows principles of 3 Rs, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” in its overall decoration and conduct. It supports several NGOs working in field of education, welfare of differently abled by putting up their stalls. It also promotes student entrepreneurship by encouraging them to put up stalls in the event.
