There are rare occasions when you see the City Palace come alive at night. The nocturnal breeze, flowing chintz curtains, brilliant music and gorgeous girls showcasing ravishing ensembles before you seems almost like a dream. But this dream came true as top models walked the ramp at City Palace, one of Jaipurs premiere royal destinations, at a fashion show held to mark the first day of the three-day carnival Jaipur by Night.
The fashion show where the clothes were designed by the students of the Arch Institute of Fashion Design, was aimed at promoting the richness of the art and craft of Rajasthan. The show was divided into several themes where outfits displayed typical Rajasthani styles like the gota work, tie and dye, khadi, miniature painting and ghoomar made the audiences imagination go wild. The sleek cuts, bright colours and the fine designs were enough to portray the creativity of the state.
It was a wonderful experience of walking the ramp in Jaipur at the palace. The experience was so different that it almost seemed like a dream. The Rajasthani clothes are so pretty. I would like to wear one on my wedding, said model Amanpreet Wahi. Most of the models agreed that it was the live music played by the Rajasthan Roots that made the experience even more special.
We spotted Princess Diya who was enjoying the fashion show immensely. Its a great initiative to promote a concept like Jaipur by Night which promotes tourism at night in the city. I liked the fashion show since it encouraged some young designers of our state to bring forth their talent. Events like this should happen more often, she added.
