The 68th Independence Day was celebrated in the city with traditional gaiety.
At one such event, hosted by Dr Lokendra Singh, we saw the guests greeting each other with Jai hinds, hugs and smiles.
While Lokendra’s elder daughter, Nupur, opted to wear traditional attire, his younger daughter, Surbhi, chose to go indo-western; and both of them looked extremely graceful.

Amateur singers sang songs from different regions (Gujarat, Punjab, Karnataka, Assam etc), portraying unity in diversity. A performance, which earned encores, was Chaitanya Kanoria’s recital of a self-composed song – Nagpur yeh hai teri guftagu… teri sadkein, teri garmi, Nagpur I’m in love with you. Says Chaitanya, “Often, we tend to criticise the place we live in. We need to bring positivity and look at the good things about our city!”
