Ritu Kumar's fashion party in Mumbai
Fashion designer Ritu Kumar finally launched her latest bridal collection much to the happiness of her clients.

Ritu and Amrish Kumar (TOI Photo)The undisputed queen of bridal couture, Ritu Kumar, unveiled her latest bridal collection with a special preview on Tuesday evening.
Ritu and her son Amrish Kumar played perfect hosts. Models including Tinu Varghese, Amruta Patki, Candice Pinto, Sonali Sehgal and Ashra Patel showcased this collection consisting of lehengas and sarees done up in traditional weaves.
And if it’s Ritu Kumar, you bet it’d be something different and unique even at an intimate preview such as this where the girls walked to the soulful strains of Sufi music with Ritu painstakingly explaiing the detailing on each garment between the rounds.
Speaking about this collection which was a bit hatke from her usual style, Ritu explained, "We have to move with the times and hence, I have used muted colours like mauve, peach and olive greens in this collection. But all the same, I believe in showcasing and reviving traditional weaves like the Benarasi and also the voluminous cuts which are the mainstay of Indian couture; which is why I have not forsaken them over here."

That the clothes were breathtakingly beautiful would be an understatement. Suffice to say what Amruta Patki commented would sum up the whole mood, "The clothes make me feel like a bride all over. I am going through all the gamut of emotions wearing Ritu’s clothes, as I would when I’d be getting married some day!"
