Words wafted in the air and merged with the wintry breeze at this discussion about the dying art of writing a daily diary in this age of electronic diaries, blogs and tweets or twits or whatever you call those instant messages and statuses. Is the old-fashioned diary an endangered species, will it survive? There was no clear verdict but it sure made for some interesting conversation at the diary debate chaired by Anil Dharker who has never kept a diary.
Panelists included Vikram Doctor who spoke on Mahatma Gandhi’s compulsive diary habit, Padmini Mirchandani and Sunhil Sippy.
Host Malini Akerkar and guests like Sheena Sippy, Tasneem Mehta, Arti and Kailash Surendranath, Sharada Dwivedi, Jamini Ahluwalia, Parvez Damania, Jenny Bhatt and Martina Neu had an interesting time listening to the discussion. And besides the words in the air, it was time for cool cocktails and hot hors d’oeuvres.
