On the occasion of
Swami Vivekananda's 156th birth anniversary, students ofNarsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics (NM College), celebrated "
National Youth Day" with students of a suburban NGO.
"Swami Vivekananda always said that youth is the best time and the way in which you utilise your time will decide the coming years that lie ahead of you. To share this message, we decided to visit students of an NGO, who are the upcoming youngsters of our nation" shares Vidur Dhabaria, a third year BMS student who spearheaded this initiative.
The collegians narrated the life of Swami Vivekananda as a child, student and a monk to the students.
"Our aim was to highlight the values Swamiji depicts in his stories. The children learnt how to "face the brutes" i.e to overcome their fears and inhibitions, to speak the truth always and be courageous to do the same, to multi-task, utilise time wiselyand be alert of your surroundings, to respect your elders, and help the ones who actually are in dire need of help. In addition, we also shared how Swamiji made an impact at the Parliament of World Religions in Chicago and his famous speech. To add some fun, we conducted a quiz competition for the children!". share Yash Yagnik and Anushka Unandkat who were present.
Lastly, the children and college students placed candles near Swamiji's photograph as a mark of rememberance on his 156th birth anniversary.
