Metro Railway felicitates sportspersons for national and international success

Metro Railway honours 41 sportspersons for national and international achievements. Metro Railway General Manager Shri Subhransu S. Mishra felicitated 41 Metro sportspersons for their remarkable performances in various national and international tournaments at a ceremony organised by the Metro Railway Sports Association at Metro Rail Bhavan on April 30, 2026.

Among the awardees, six sportspersons represented India in prestigious international championships in the disciplines of Bridge, Chess and Table Tennis, earning accolades for the country. The international representatives included Shri Sumit Mukherjee and Shri Sagnik Roy in Bridge; Shri Sayantan Das, Shri Mitrabha Guha and Shri Arpan Das in Chess; and Miss Poymantee Baisya in Table Tennis.

Calling the athletes “our pride”, the General Manager congratulated them for their outstanding accomplishments and reaffirmed Metro Railway’s commitment to supporting sporting talent. “Your achievements bring immense pride to Metro Railway, and we will continue to stand by you in your pursuit of excellence,” he said.

He also expressed hope that their success would inspire more budding sportspersons within the Metro Railway fraternity to strive for excellence in the future. The event was attended by Principal Heads of Departments and other senior officials of Metro Railway.
