Lucknow bikers participate in Republic Day rally for woman empowerment
This was one Republic Day well spent, at least for the bikers in the city. The boys took out their mean machines, while the girls rode on their scooterettes to be part of this bike rally organised for the cause of woman empowerment. An initiative by a bikers’ group and an NGO, the effort was equally supported by the Woman Powerline 1090, and CII Young Indians, Lucknow chapter.

The rally saw the participation of more than 250 girl riders.
Ditching their swanky four-wheelers for the day, Ambika Mishra, Gaurav Prakash, Shawez Arif and Krishan Vishnu Bharwani among others were seen vrooming on their hot wheels. And with so many good bikes around, DIG Navniet Sekera made sure he chose the best one for himself after checking out all the bikes. In fact, the high-end bikes became the photo prop for the day, with everyone choosing to get themselves clicked on their fav models at the rally.
A flash mob was organized before the rally kick-started, with chief guest Swapna Roy flagging off the bikers by releasing tri-colour balloons in the air. The bikers halted at Saharaganj mall, where a nukkad natak had been organized to create awareness about the women’s rights.
The rally, which concluded in Gomtinagar, went without a hitch, with the bikers being given safe passage on Lucknow roads. In fact, many of the riders commented how they’d never covered such a long distance withing the city in such short time.
