It was a cultural confluence at Tollygunge Club where an evening of folk music — Dhun: Listen to you soul — was held recently. Classical music exponent Prashant A Sammader, Rajasthani folk musician Mame Khan, Parvathy Baul from Kerala and Bengali folk music group Dohar enthralled all with their soulful renditions. The three-hour session witnessed the foursome jamming together — each complementing the other. The huge turnout got into the groove with Prashant’s Piya tore karan and Mame Khan’s Kesariya balam. However, it was Dohar’s Ami tak dumtak dum bajayi and a few more Bengali folk numbers that pepped up the evening. The soiree was organized to expose the audience to the rich heritage and flavour of the diverse forms of folk music in India.
