Ricky Vasandani’s entrepreneurial journey began far from boardrooms and global partnerships. It started with his family’s natural diamond business, Satguru Sparkles, where he sold natural diamonds door to door with nothing but determination and an instinctive understanding of consumer behaviour. Years later, when the Russia–Ukraine war disrupted global diamond supply chains, Ricky recognised a rare window of opportunity.
It was during this period that he shifted his focus to lab-grown diamonds. Rather than waiting for the market to stabilise, he looked ahead, researching the rising potential of lab-grown diamonds—an industry still nascent in India.
With conviction in the future of conscious luxury, he raised USD 2 million in just 30 minutes through a single call to pursue his vision of building a proudly Made-in-India lab-grown diamond brand. Thus began the foundation of Solitario. Ricky personally led sales, marketing, operations, and brand building, standing at exhibitions, engaging with customers himself, and shaping every aspect of the company in its early days.
A major milestone came when he partnered with the right co-founder, Vivek Oberoi, whose global presence and belief in sustainable luxury accelerated Solitario’s growth trajectory. Together, they transformed the brand from a bold idea into a global force. Today, Solitario boasts over 100 points of sale across seven countries and more than 40 touchpoints in India, making it one of the most widely distributed lab-grown diamond brands in the world.
