Foundation Day tribute lights up Times Square
In a remarkable display of global alumni spirit, members of the ASPEXS North America Chapter marked the 73rd Foundation Day of their alma mater South Point School with a celebration that lit up one of the world’s most iconic locations—Times Square in New York..
On April 1, 2026, alumni illuminated a prominent digital billboard with a special message honouring South Point School—a tribute that played 24 times through the day. Set against the dazzling neon skyline, the display became a striking symbol of pride, nostalgia, and the enduring bond shared by generations of Pointers across continents.
The occasion drew hundreds of alumni from across North America, who gathered beneath the towering screens to celebrate the institution that shaped their formative years. It wasn’t just an anniversary—it was a powerful reflection of a community that continues to grow, connect, and thrive globally.
"ASPEXS, the official alumni association, has been at the forefront of fostering these connections through meaningful initiatives and events. The recent launch of its international chapters, introduced during the Back to School event at the campus, underscores its commitment to keeping the legacy alive far beyond geographical boundaries. This unique celebration in New York reflects our dedication to carrying forward the spirit of the institution wherever we go,” said Meghnath Roy Chowdhury, Honorary Secretary of the association.
Adding to the spirit, Kallol Basu (Batch of 1998), now based in the United States, shared that alumni travelled in from New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Connecticut, and even Georgia—representing ex-students from multiple decades , united by a shared sense of belonging.
From Kolkata to New York, the message shone bright and clear: the legacy lives on, carried proudly by its global family.
