Tania Sachdev shakes a leg with Viraj Kataria at her sangeet ceremony in Delhi

You don’t usually expect a chess player to break into a song and dance, but Tania surprised the guests at her sangeet ceremony as she shook a leg with the groom-to-be, Viraj, an architect, two days before her wedding. The chess grandmaster entered her sangeet dancing to Lag Gayi Lottery from Fukrey. Taniya told us, “I just love to dance, so I enjoyed performing, and I didn’t feel one bit nervous. Viraj is extremely supportive of what I do and I guess nothing is going to change much after my marriage.”The sangeet was attended by a number of her friends from foreign lands. Simon Bekker Jensen, a guest, told us, “I’m a chess player from Denmark. It’s my second time in India and I believe the weddings here are an experience of a lifetime.” Barbara Monduzzi, a guest from Brazil, said, “This is my first time in India and I never expected Indian weddings to be so much fun!”
