A visit by a giant red dog, an exclusive screening of Cars 2 and a chance to create a tree out of recycled goods highlight “Summer KydZone,” a week of summer fun planned at the American Center June 20-24.Headlining the week long extravaganza, the American Center teams up with the Motion Picture Dist. Association of India and Disney Pixar for an exclusive screening of Cars 2 on Thursday, June 23, a day before it hits screens nationally.
Cars 2 follows the blockbuster original Cars, featuring lovable characters Lightning McQueen and Mater the Tow Truck. Special guests will walk the red carpet and get their photos taken with a look-a-like Car.On Monday morning, June 20 at 10 a.m. Scholastic presents Clifford the Big Red Dog at the American Library. Clifford, one of America’s best loved characters for primary school children, will visit the Library to meet children and answer their questions.
Alongside Clifford, American staff will read storybooks and conduct quizzes.In addition, hit Hollywood movies with a message will be screened daily for kids all week from Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. in the American Center auditorium. The line-up includes “How to Eat Fried Worms,” Disney’s “Oceans” and “Earth,” “Music of the Heart” and “Wall-E.” Finally, Summer KydZone workshops held daily at 12:30 p.m. will provide children a chance to explore environmental issues and advances in space exploration. In partnership with the Happy Hands Foundation, participants will build a Tree of Life, an art installation using only recycled materials.
The Advit Foundation will teach the craft of Puppet Making from Waste Materials. And the SPACE Foundation will take students on a Journey through Space, including launching a rocket, operating a Mars Rover and being an astronaut.
