Lillete Dubey's play in Delhi
Earlier this week in Delhi Lillete Dubey staged ‘Love on the Brink’, a play directed by her, which represented the modern man’s dilemma on matters such as – material opulence, martial dissatisfaction, the thin line between love and lust, homosexuality and of course the futility of all these things themselves. Adopted by Murray Schisgal’ 1960s play ‘luv’, this satirical comedy, not only regaled the audience in the jampacked auditorium but also made them reflective, as they found a part of their life being enacted in the play as it proceeded.
Plot-ting: The plot of the play was simple.

The three main characters – Brandy, Chop and Amu played by Joy Sengupta, Kumud Mishra and Shivani Tanksale respectively, depicted different shades of love through their act. Director of the play Lillete Dubey said about the characters, “It is a satirical play where each character despite being serious is equally humourous. They all try to portray their conflicting situations. The characters not only amuse the audience, but also make them aware of the realities of love and life alike which more often than not they overlook.”
The audience speaks: “It was a really funny play putting forward a really serious message. The three characters taste love in their own unique styles. They try and explore love and life in different circumstances colouring it with the background that they belong to; the lady wants martial bliss, her hubby lusts for an extra martial affair while the wants of the friend are still different. Right balance of wit, pun and humour makes this play just perfect”, said Paramjit S Gill, who had come to watch the play.
