Courtesy its popularity, it’s a cinch that music lovers come in hordes to see
Indian Ocean, the Delhi rock band perform. At Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University too, the scenario was no different. Students and faculty members alike gathered to witness the high-octane gig.
Though the band sang its most popular tracks, it also used the opportunity to present their lesser-known songs.
So, along with songs like Jhini, Are Ruk Ja Re Bande, Maa Rewa, the band also played Charkha, Behney Do and Leaving Home. “There are songs that the band hadn’t been playing for a long time. There are a few big shows coming up and we wanted to sort of bring these songs back in the fold,” informed Anurag, the manager of the band.
The students loved the concert. “Their songs are different from any other rock band. I have been following their work for a decade now but this is the first time I am attending their live concert. For me, it’s surreal,” said Mohit Ahlawat, a third year engineering student.
The artistes too loved performing at the varsity. “We love performing at college fests simply because of the energy exuded by the youngsters. In a corporate show, people will keep sitting, while in pubs, the focus is on getting drunk. But, in colleges, the students come to listen and feel the music,” said Rahul Ram, the bass guitarist and vocalist of the band.
