Everything about the Mr & Miss DT finale was young, and glamorous. It had to be that way ��� the campus contest, which became the rage online, with an unprecedented 12,02,547 votes for the 14 finalists, ITIMES looks for the spunkiest, best-looking, most confident fuchchas in DU and other universities in the city. Sameera Sahgal, Mudit Malhotra, Shagun Pannu, Aakriti Ahuja, Dev Gaur, Samridhi Kapoor, Deepanka Kapoor and Pooja Bhasin ��� Saturday, October 3, was the big night.
Amzadd Habbib and his group made sure that they looked great, and Pranav Hamal choreographed their ramp walk. All this happened amidst much fanfare, thanks to the hundreds-strong crowd, who thronged all the floors of the MGF Metropolitan mall, Gurgaon, throughout the rehearsals, and the show that followed! The judges included Pantaloons Femina Miss India Universe 2009, Ekta Chowdhry, representing Shoot Talent Management, Anshul Chaturvedi, editor, Delhi Times, and RJ Stutee from Radio Mirchi. Emcee Kanishk conducted the proceedings, and the show started with a bang, courtesy DJ Sumit Sethi.
Say What? The introductions gave way to the talent round, which was followed by the ramp walk and then a Q&A session. Rishi was asked what was more important, following your passion or making money, and he chose passion. ���Dancing���s my life. There have been times when I thought I shouldn���t dance because I���m not good enough, but even then, I danced,��� he said. Sameera was asked what edge Army girls had in contests like these, she replied, ���They���re beautiful, intelligent, always stand out, have the right kind of exposure, are strong, bold, independent, and can express themselves well.��� That just about sums her up, alright! And emcee Kanishk had a take on Sameera���s answer ��� he said, ���And we thought that the Army just gave us guns!��� Rishi, Sahil and Bala won Mr DT 2009, first and second runner-up respectively. Sameera and Deepanka were crowned Miss DT and the first runner-up respectively, and Shagun and Srishti shared the second runner-up position. RJ Stutee awarded the Radio Mirchi Fuchcha award to Srishti, saying, ���You have everything an RJ needs ��� spontaneity, creativity and humour.���
Winners Take All... After a performance by Jalebee Cartel, courtesy Dada Music, and the prize distribution ceremony, it was time for photo-ops, and the fuchchas did it with panache. When we caught up with Maitreyi girl Deepanka, she was surrounded by family, friends and fans and was busy accepting congratulations. Bala was eager to celebrate with his friends and said, ���I am the second runner-up and it���s no small deal. It���s celebration time!��� In fact, before the show started, Bala told everyone, ���If I win, I���ll take all of you to Las Vegas for a grand party on a private jet!��� When are you leaving, people, and can we hop aboard too?
