Fashion meets art at fashion week

A photography exhibition titled Fashion Wears Art was showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) in partnership with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) at Pragati Maidan. The exhibition was curated and mentored by Sunil Sethi, chairman, FDCI. The photos that were part of the exhibit were conceptualised by fashion stylist Gautam Kalra and photographer Hormis Antony Tharakan.

The Fashion Wears Art Project pays homage to visionaries in their respective fields, now as they combine creative forces with designers, this combination will see an artistic expression adding spark to the style-scape. The participating designers and artists include JJ Valaya x Waswo X Waswo, Rajesh Pratap Singh x Mithu Sen, Namrata Joshipura x Sudarshan Shetty, Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna x Vibha Galhotra, Varun Bahl x A Ramachandran, HUEMN x Hanif Kureshi, Gautam Kalra x Siddharth Singh Bokolia.
“This is a wonderful meeting of genius minds, and the result has always been paradigm-shifting. Even if you look at history, it began with Elsa Schiaparelli x Salvador Dalí and continued with LV and Yayoi Kusama. These powerful palette pleasers are conversation starters, and not defined by conventional rhythms of the fashion world. We have legendary artists, who have joined hands with us on this remarkable project to shape our perspective in the design world,” says Sunil Sethi.
