Remembering
Chaiyyan Chaiyyan from
Dil Se that had singer’s career chugging full steam, Sukhwinder, who was in Chandigarh recently, gets emotional.
TOOK A U-TURN FROM HIGHWAY TO GO BACK TO CHANDIGARH Recently, when Sukhwinder visited Bhiwani to attend
Bharat Kesri Dangal
, he did something unexpected. “On my way to Delhi airport, my mind changed. While people waited for me in Mumbai, I called them to say that I am going to Chandigarh. I don’t know but I decided to do it as I was missing City Beautiful very much. I came here stayed for a day, roamed around in the car, took a walk and even met my fans. I laugh at what I did, but for Chandigarh, I can take such risks.”
EVERYTHING IS SO BEAUTIFUL HERE“I love this city for several reasons. Main reason is beautiful girls (laughed). See, it has a perfect setting— proximity to the hills, nice lake, green cover and Rock Garden. I get motivated here as Chandigarh is an epitome of creativity.
Rock Garden
negates the concept of trash. Look at the beautiful figurines created out of waste. For me, it’s a paradise. However, I feel sad that traditional shopping arena of Sector 17 is witnessing less footfall, owing to the mall culture.”
SECTOR 17 WAS A MUSIC SPOT“I belong to the old school, so for me ideal shopping would be roaming around in Sector 17, looking at the fountain and tasting street food. Moreover, it used to be a music spot with good old music being played in the shops, leaving everyone charged up. But now people are running towards malls and are forgetting their roots. Also, musical nights and events used to set tempo right here, but now I feel there has been a shift.”
EMOTIONS RUN HIGH“When I visited Bhiwani, which has produced several Olympians, I got emotional. Also, meeting relatives of
Bhagat Singh was an experience. Punjab and Haryana are prosperous states and are filled with talent, be it singers or sports persons.”
SHAADI HONI TO CHAHIE IS SAALI was being quoted saying I will jump into the well if I don’t get married this year. How silly. Why will I do so? I have so many songs in the pipeline and I am too busy with work. Well shaadi honi to chahie because mere doston ke bachchey school jaane lag gae hain. The search for good wife is on and I am hopeful to get hitched by year end. Rest, I will not say anything.
