Actress Anubha Sourrya and her mother, veteran actress
Puspa Panda, are known for their love for animals. And on Sunday, they joined a protest march organised by few animal rights activists against killing of a pregnant dog in the city.
The dog, April, was beaten to death by a woman in Samantarapur area of the city a few days ago. Its premature puppies also died later.
Members of an animal welfare group, which had rushed the dog to hospital, later lodged a police complaint.
Since then, the animal rights activists had started an online
campaign, Justice for April, demanding action against the perpetrator. “We held the protest rally at the spot where the dog was killed. It’s inhumane to kill a pregnant animal. We want the accused to be booked for the crime,” Anubha said, adding that the protesters had followed the social distancing norms while seeking justice for April.
