Classical music programme at Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal

With a light shower in the evening making the weather pleasant, Bhopalites enjoyed a classical music programme held at Bharat Bhavan last week.
Aas Paas, a series of musical performances, was held at Antarang in Bharat Bhavan, wherein classical singer Javed Usmani rendered many soulful numbers. He was accompanied by Ashesh Upadhyay on the tabla, Dripendra Sharma on harmonium and Mohammad Hanif on sarangi.
Dedicating many of his songs to the monsoon, Javed entertained the audience with his performance. He said, “Performing at Bharat Bhavan is a matter of pride for us. Although I belong to this city, this is only the second time I’m performing in Bhopal. It’s always a treat to perform in front of such a lovely and patient audience.”
To which, tabla player Ashesh added, “For us, performing at Bharat Bhavan is a confidence booster. We are motivated to excel in our craft every time we perform here. Har kalakaar ka sapna hota hai yahan perform karna.” While the artistes were happy to perform, Bhopalites were delighted with the light drizzle and cool breeze. Anshul Jain, a marketing manager who had come along with his wife, said, “It's a wonderful evening. The rain is like a rhythmic background score that has blended with the classical music.
