When all-night celebrations marked Section 377 verdict
Following the landmark verdict on Section 377 last week, a number of city hotspots burst into celebrations, as members of the LGBTQIA+ community marked a new freedom in their life. Thursday evening almost turned into a frenzy, with party hubs seeing a huge footfall. Everyone was dressed in their best to celebrate the judgement. No one had ever witnessed that kind of spirit in the community before.
Aalisha Shaikh, a member of the city’s queer community, who was attending a party, said, “This party is not just any other party, for me it’s freedom. Now, I can be myself and do not have to hide anymore. I am with people celebrating this freedom. It’s a great day, glad to see everyone celebrating love.”
