The star was found swerving her car in and out of traffic, after which the authorities were alerted, and she was taken into custody. This is also not the first time that the star has been involved with alcohol abuse. Over the years, there have been many reports about the star’s involvement with substances, and her ex-partner, Kevin Federline, even detailed some of this in his memoir, ‘You Thought You Knew.’

Taking to her social media in October 2025, the famed ‘Toxic’ singer had shared a series of posts, officially addressing the memoir. She wrote on her social media that “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting,” while also adding that she has been trying to build a relationship with her sons.

She also added, “I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.” She detailed how she has not really been able to meet either of her sons in the past few years; however, she has been trying to build that relationship no matter what.

Spears further concluded her post by saying, “I will always love them, and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking."

What claims did Kevin Federline make in his memoir?

In his book, published last year, the man made serious claims about Spears during their marriage. Many of these claims included substance abuse, amongst other things, all of which have been refuted by the singer herself. In some of his claims, Federline had also mentioned how Spears had opted to drink alcohol and take medications while she was pregnant. Not only that, but he also alleged that she used drugs like cocaine while she was breastfeeding as well.

Another claim that was mentioned in his memoir talked about a ‘drunk’ call that he had received from Spears in the middle of the night, while he could hear their children crying in the background.

TMZ reported that the singer had been found under the influence in California as she was seen swerving in and out of a traffic-filled lane. She was taken into custody on Wednesday and was taken to the hospital for getting her blood drawn as well. Spears was later released by the authorities on Thursday.

Another report from Page Six also alleged that the singer had been heavily affected because of the memoir and had been dealing with a lot of things lately. The statement read, “Her behavior has become increasingly erratic in recent months. She goes from being fine to being not. It was the Kevin book that really sent her over the edge, and it’s been downhill from there. It really impacted her emotionally.”
