Sweeny added, “I've never been here to talk about politics. I’ve always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of. And I think because of that, people want to take it even further and use me as their own pawn. But it's somebody else assigning something to me, and I can’t control that.”Sweeny further commented about how she does not like to address these types of comments and issues online. She cited that there is never any winning in such matters and that she has realized that there is no point in addressing them, as someone will always be there to call her out on that as well.

Sydney Sweeney is not a political person

The star further emphasized that she is here for the arts, not politics.
Commenting about the matter she shared, “I’m in the arts. I’m not here to speak on politics. That’s not an area I’ve ever even imagined getting into. It’s not why I became who I am. I became an actor because I like to tell stories, but I don’t believe in hate in any form. I believe we should all love each other and have respect and understanding for one another. This is not the first political controversy that Sweeny has been a part of. Earlier last year, the star had faced major backlash over her jeans commercial, as many netizens pointed out that the tagline for the ad directly referenced a discredited pseudoscience.
