Simu Liu addresses VIRAL photo of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ cast and meeting Robert Downey Jr. for the first time: ‘I wasn’t trying to look pretty’

Simu Liu recently revealed how his first meeting with actor Robert Downey Jr. went down, and he is not happy about it. A photo of the cast members from ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ circulated online in May earlier this year. In the photos, Liu can be seen as the only one wearing a pair of shorts and a grey T-shirt, while the remaining cast members were dressed in their casual best.

While featuring on ‘The Tonight Show’, on December 15, Simu Liu opened up about how it was to meet Robert Downey Jr. for the first time. Addressing the viral photo from May, Liu revealed that he was heavily embarrassed about the way he was dressed, as that was the first time that he had come across the Dr Doom actor.




He shared, “Can we just talk about my wardrobe for a second? Because it looks like I’m really, really underdressed. And I just want to say, this was my first time meeting Downey, by the way. So I was as embarrassed as I am right now, showing it to you.”

He shared further that he had a late night program that time, and had been working the whole day. “I wasn’t trying to look pretty,” the actor shared. He later recalled that he did not know that the Iron Man star would be visiting that day, and would want to meet him.

He revealed that he got a text in the middle of his schedule, which read that Robert Downey wished to meet him, which made the ‘Shang-Chi’ actor wish he had backup outfits waiting for him. “No! I’m in short shorts and flip flops!’ And they’re like, ‘No, no. Downey wants everyone to come in and say hi.’ I show up and literally the first thing that he said was, he was like, ‘Oh, look at you! Well, that’s a choice,’ I was like, ‘God!’”
