Marlon Wayans talks about what may come in ‘Scary Movie 6'
In an interview with ComicBook.com, the star revealed that there are a lot of horror films that can be picked up for the project, and named a number of hit films.
He said, “I mean, you know, I’m just a fan of the whole genre, man. ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ may have something in there. I think the ‘Scream’ franchise is always a great one. I think ‘Heretic’ was a wonderful film. ‘Longlegs’. ‘Get Out’. ‘Nope’. There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day. ‘Sinners’”.
Marlon Wayans is known as one of the titular characters from the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise. Not only that, he was also one of the names behind bringing the series back to life, along with his brother Shawn and Keenen Ivory.
The 6th installment of ‘Scary Movie’
The news that the 6th installment of the franchise is already in the works was confirmed earlier in August this year, leaving fans elated. As per reports from Variety, the film will see the Wayans brothers back in action behind the screen, while two old cast members will be reuniting for the new project.
Regina Hall, known for her role as Brenda, and
Anna Faris, known for her role as Cindy, will be making their return to the franchise. The actresses had shared a joint statement regarding the matter, stating that, “We can’t wait to bring Brenda [Hall] and Cindy [Faris] back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again)”.
The first film of the franchise hit the theatres in 2000 and became a huge box office success at the time. The franchise has covered a number of beloved slasher and horror films for its arody takes. These include ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, ‘The Exorcist’, ‘The Shining’, ‘The Ring’, ‘The Blair Witch Project’, and ‘The Sixth Sense’. The film is slated for release next year on June 12, 2026.
