Pics: Australian Cricket Team attends a special screening of ‘Lion’

‘Lion’ is currently nominated for multiple Oscars, and is awaiting its fate at the prestigious awards ceremony. The film is produced by a global team of Australian, UK and American producers and it opened a few weeks back in Australia, and has performed very well. Directed by Garth Davis, the film stars Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman and Sunny Pawar in pivotal roles and has been shot extensively in India, Melbourne and Tasmania.

The film is set to release this Friday in India and a few days ahead of its release, a screening was held for Australian cricket team in India who are currently here to play a Test match which is underway in Pune. The cricketers posed with copies of Saroo Brierley’s non-fiction book ‘Lion’, the inspiration for the film’s story.

‘Lion’ tells the true story of Saroo, who lost his way home in India and was adopted by an Australian family. 25 years later, he searched his way back home.
