Jason Bateman made a rare red carpet appearance with his wife, Amanda Anka, at the premiere of his new dark comedy, ‘DTF St. Louis’ in Los Angeles. The couple stepped out together Tuesday at the DGA Theater Complex, smiling for photos and posing arm in arm. Their date night comes shortly after Bateman spoke openly about getting sober before their 2001 wedding.

As reported by Page Six, Jason Bateman wore a black suit with a matching crew neck shirt. Amanda Anka chose a red gown with gold detailing. In several photos, both 57 held each other close as Anka looked up at her husband.
‘DTF St. Louis’ centers on a love triangle that spirals after one person ends up dead. The series also stars Linda Cardellini, David Harbour, Pedro Pascal, and Peter Sarsgaard.
Bateman recently reflected on his early years of marriage in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He said he decided to get sober before their wedding because his drinking caused “tension” in their relationship. He recalled that Anka once asked him when the “spigot [of his partying days] was going to completely turn off.”
“[She] didn’t demand that I completely absolve, but that was sort of the back-and-forth,” he said of their “negotiations” over alcohol and cocaine use. “I was like, ‘Well, I feel like my [sobriety] ETA is six months away, but if I could land this plane now, it would alleviate a lot of the tension, so let’s just f–king do it.”

Since then, Bateman has been California sober. He told The Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve got friends who had bottoms that were pretty chilling, but I was lucky enough to recognize, ‘This is probably as far as I should go if I still want to accomplish the things that I want to get to.’”
Speaking to Esquire in December 2025, he said his sobriety, wedding, and breakout role on ‘Arrested Development’ happened within “12 to 24 months.” He also quit smoking cigarettes. The decade before that, he said, was “confusing and challenging … a learning curve.”
