‘Dawson Creek’ cast pays respects to James Van Der Beek
Many of Der Beek’s co-stars from his time on ‘Dawson Creek’ shared their love and memories of the late actor online. Busy Philipps, a famed actress and singer who joined the sitcom as Audrey Liddle, took to her social media and paid her respects to the late actor. Her post read, “My heart is deeply hurting for all of us today … every person who knew James and loved him. But I am profoundly heartbroken for his incredible wife, Kimberly and their six magical children.”
‘Final Destination’ actor Kerr Smith also remembered the famed actor. He posted a comment that read, “I’m so grateful for being able to call James a brother. I’ll miss him deeply. Rest easy.”
Chad Michael Murray, who joined the cast as Charlie Todd in season 5, also reached out in the comment section of Beek’s post and paid his respects. He shared, “Sending love and light to your beautiful family. James was a giant. We’re so so so sorry for what you’re going through. His words, art, and humanity inspired all of us — he inspired us to be better in all ways. God bless you guys.”
James Van Der Beek passes away after cancer battle
The 48-year-old actor had been battling cancer for quite some time and had been open and public about his health. Taking to his social media account, his family shared the news in an emotional note, along with a recent photo of the star.
Their statement read, “Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity, and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now, we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”
James Van Der Beek had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023 and had gone public with his diagnosis in 2024.
