Sharing his honest opinion on the project, he said in a statement, "When I read the script, I was super excited for a number of reasons," he said, revealing that while his friend, Macdara Kelleher, with whom he made his first film, he added, "Lee Cronin is a great Irish filmmaker whose work I’ve always had a huge amount of respect for, so I was really excited to work with him. Getting to do it at home in Ireland was also massive for all of us. We were very proud to be making a film like this, with this kind of scope, at this size, with such a great creative team behind us."

Reynor also reflected on the bold, offbeat and tonally unpredictable of the film. He elaborated, "In terms of the script itself, it was so bonkers and tonally broad, and it just seemed like a lot of fun. It felt like it would be a wild time. I particularly love that the movie has graphic body horror and really squeamish moments, while also being incredibly funny. Maybe that’s just my twisted sense of humour, but I think there’s a lot of humour in it. I love that fluctuation in tone and the diversity of it. Those were the things that really drew me to the script."
