'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' changes format: West End show becomes one-part play
The West End's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be reimagined into a single-performance format.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the production's decision to turn the two-part stage extension of J.K. Rowling's Potter-world into one aims at making the show more accessible to allow "even more audiences to experience the story with one ticket and one visit to the theatre," said a press release from producers Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions on Wednesday.
Penned by Adolescence screenwriter Jack Thorne, the play will now condense the full story into a single performance lasting two hours and 55 minutes, mirroring the version that has been performed globally, including on Broadway in New York City since 2021.
Booking for the two-part production has now extended through Sept. 20, 2026. The one-part production will reopen at London's Palace Theatre on October 6.
Producers Friedman and Callender said, "When Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiered in the West End in 2016, it redefined what was possible in the art of stagecraft. This July, the production celebrates its 10th anniversary, an unprecedented milestone for a play performed in two parts, and we are immensely proud of the indelible mark it has made on the theatrical and cultural landscape over the past decade."Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
