Gwyneth Paltrow, the generational actress renowned for films like ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Seven,’ ‘Marty Supreme,’ ‘Emma,’ and many more, opened up about her feelings of wrath after thinking about a time when someone betrayed her trust within her inner circle. The 53-year-old had a conversation with the psychotherapist about an episode she finds hard to overcome.
Here’s a closer look at the conversation between Gwyneth Paltrow and Esther Perel.
Gwyneth Paltrow expresses her feelings on betrayal of trust
Paltrow expressed her feelings of disgust and wrath when mentioning the episode of betrayal of trust during her candid conversation with psychotherapist Esther Perel in her Goop podcast. “If I were saying my inner dialogue out loud right now, it would be really shocking,” she said, stating her feelings must be universal despite the particular incident being many years ago. “I was still really caught by the feeling, like, these incredibly big feelings around [it],” the actress mentioned.
Analysing the emotions, Perel claimed that someone close to you breaking your trust is one piece, but them acknowledging their actions is a whole other. “The next consequence of the breach of trust or the violation of trust is when I stop trusting myself as a result of it,” the expert stated. Furthermore, she said that even if the person who made you doubt yourself, on whom to trust, has been absent from your life for 10 years, the hurt can stay longer and follow. “I've lost my confidence. I'm constantly waiting and watching to see if other people will do something to me because of you,” she said.
Gwyneth Paltrow: Can we trust again?
When Paltrow asked if there was a way back to trust after experiencing infidelity, Perel claimed, “Yes,” adding that this is not possible for everyone. Furthermore, the actress wondered if the pain is the same for a temporary infatuation and a serious girlfriend. “To some people, a one-night stand is as painful as a 20- year affair,” Perel said.
