Singer-songwriter FKA Twigs has filed a fresh lawsuit against her former flame, actor Shia LaBeouf, challenging an alleged 'illegal nondisclosure agreement (NDA)'.The legal move comes months after the actors reached a settlement Twigs' previous lawsuit. Tahliah Barnett, who is popular for her stage name FKA Twigs, reportedly received an arbitration demand from LaBeouf’s legal team, accusing her of breaching the agreement.

FKA Twigs files new lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the claim arose from an interview in which she stated, “I wouldn’t feel safe” while discussing a chapter of her life behind her. While the arbitration was later dismissed, the dispute has now escalated into a new legal battle.In a complaint filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Twigs alleges that LaBeouf is attempting to unlawfully restrict her from speaking about issues related to sexual violence and her own experiences of alleged abuse. She is seeking a court order to block the enforcement of portions of the NDA, arguing that they violate California law.

FKA Twigs' lawyer reacts

Mathew Rosengart, a lawyer for the singer-songwriter, in the complaint, wrote that Tahliah Barnett, “files this action to right a wrong, and also on behalf of other women who are the victims of sexual and domestic violence who do not have the resources to speak out and defend themselves from predators."
He went on to add, "In so doing, she seeks to ensure that survivors of sexual misconduct are not bullied or silenced like she was."

Previously, the British singer filed a lawsuit against Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf, claiming that he was physically and emotionally abusive when she dated him from 2018 to 2019.FKA twigs further alleged that LaBeouf physically assaulted her numerous times and once threatened to crash a car with her in it unless she told him she loved him. She revealed that she started LaBeouf after she was cast in a supporting part in his 2019 movie 'Honey Boy', which was based on the actor's childhood and his relationship with his abusive father.FKA twigs said she made several attempts to leave him that he resisted, but he later ended the relationship himself.

Shia LaBeouf dismisses allegations

In an email to the New York Times, LaBeouf said that "many of these allegations are not true," but acknowledged that he owed his accusers "the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done"."I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalisations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I'm ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt," the actor said.He revealed that he is in recovery and therapy over alcoholism and PTSD and added that he "will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way."
